No More Guilt

Being a mom to a 14 month old sure does keep me busy. Some days we're running all around the town and some days he's just not feeling well and wants his mama all day long. Some days I miss my workout simply because I'm exhausted by the end of the day.

And you know what?!

It's OK!

We all have busy lives and busy days and we can't beat ourselves up when things doing go according to our plans. As long as you get back at it as soon as you can, there no sense getting worked up about missing a day or two. I'm done with feeling guilty and mad at myself when I don't get my workout in. As long as I stick to eating right, a new day will come and I can get back on the wagon!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

The Power of Water

Water.

The body is made up of 55-78% of water, depending on the size of the person. It is our job to hydrate the body and replenish it.

I have been drinking water like a mad-woman ever since I got pregnant and I now very rarely drink anything but water.

I have learned to love it and thanks to my Hydro app on my phone, I am reminded to keep drinking throughout the day. The app is great. You put in your information and it calculates how much water you should be drinking in the day. You can set reminders, too.

It definitely helps me when life gets so busy and I'm running around after my 14 month old or out and about running errands.

So, check out the Hydro app or just remember to get your 8-10 glasses of water in a day.

Dinner: Cheat Day!
Cam's pick was pizza. We LOVE pizza. Duncan loves pizza too.

We had a nice family dinner (it doesn't happen often b/c of Cam's work schedule) despite Baby Duncan being sick.

And also due to Duncan being sick, I didn't get my workout in today or either of my snacks...
But, tomorrow's another day. I am done beating myself up about the small things.
Mama duty comes first always!

The Body

The Body.

Through trial and error of many many many diets I have learned that you get the best results when you put the proper, healthy foods into your body. Your body will give you the energy and fuel that you give it. If you feed your body processed and chemically enhanced foods, your body won't function to it's fullest capacity. You might feel sluggish, have health issues, etc.

But, if you feed your body with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, preferably organic, and water, then your body will thank you. You will start to see an improvement rather quickly. Weight will come off, ailments might disappear, your energy will improve, your skin will clear up.

Treat your body well and it will treat you well.

Exercise. Is. Necessary.

Whether it's yoga, Pilates, circuit training, machines, DVDs in your basement, or running after your kids/pets, you need to move!

I have recently discovered The Daily Burn. It's an online workout site with many many workout choices. It is customized to your amount of time and effort you can put it. You can pick the workouts you like or have them make a plan for you to follow. I like the fact that it's not the same workout over and over and over. Variety is key!

It's a new month, so if you haven't done anything toward getting healthy yet this year, it's never too late to start! So, get moving and start slow. Trade soda for water. White rice for brown rice. The change doesn't have to be overnight, but a little change at a time and before you know it you're on your way to a healthier, happier you!!

Busy Day

Yesterday was such a busy day in the MacQueen house.

We had two showings for our house. The first one I could tell the guy wasn't interested, but the afternoon showing went really well, I think! Please keep us in your thoughts!

On top of showings taking up the day, Duncan is still battling a cold. His tiny little nose is so stuffy and he's just miserable. Definitely not my happy little boy.

So, I didn't get any workouts in (except my morning yoga stretches). But, that doesn't mean I couldn't eat right. Here's a little "taste" (sorry, I couldn't help myself haha) of my day.

The Mind

The mind is a powerful thing. Just that way we think can change the littlest thing about our day and our life.

I recently got a Groupon for a 3-hour weight loss hypnosis. I've never been hypnotized and I wasn't completely sure I could be, but it was originally $259 and I paid $39. Not too shabby, huh?! I couldn't pass it up. Plus, it was something new that I'd never done before.

So, I ventured to the meeting place (of course I got lost and have to call twice and turn around 4 or 5 times...with a GPS, but those of you who know me personally know that this is quite normal). Anyways, there were a lot of people there of all shapes, sizes, and age.

Throughout the 3 hours we were hypnotized not to just "stop eating" or "don't eat that" but we were made to visualize the happier, healthier person we wanted to be. It was incredible that the suggestions he gave us actually sunk in for me. We were told to picture the foods that we crave the most and to picture boogers or vomit on them. As weird as it sounds, it worked! When I came home from the session I made Cam a burger for lunch (one of those fully cooked patties that are like 250 calories and made of garbage) and I actually felt nauseous when I smelt it.

It really astounds me how easily our subconscious can be swayed with just the power of suggestion. I will be keeping up with the Cd's I got from the session and hopefully working to not only eliminating the junk from my diet, but not even thinking about it or wanted it anymore.
